By way of explanation. The term 'home business' consists of two words. 'Business' is the second one; it's there to qualify and support the word 'home' and all that goes with it - and not vice versa. Consequently, we also list below, items which are of interest and value to the home. Whether in its context as an office or as a part of your family and lifestyle but always directed at the improved prospects and enjoyment that running a business from home, in its entirety, can bring.

For a current, multi-part overview of starting and running a business from home, go here: http://www.homebusiness.org.uk/features.htm

Hinault calls for peloton to strike if Chris Froome takes part in Tour de France. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/hinault-calls-for-peloton-to-strike-if-chris-froome-takes-part-in-tour-de-france/ A not-unexpected call from a soiled French 'hero' who himself went on strike and encouraged other riders to do so in protest against and refusing to undergo - doping controls! While 73% of smaller firms believe there is demand for British products and services overseas, they are least confident in their capacity and capability to export. The report has indicated that just 8% of small firms are aware of the DIT's Exporting is GREAT website and 25% do not know where to get export help and support. Of the 325 firms surveyed earlier in 2018, 62% were earning no interest on money in their business bank account. Around 41% of firms were not saving enough each month to earn interest and 33% were spending their savings before interest could be earned. It goes with the colour of blood. Nor is the Red Tractor scheme any more credible than any other supermarket-based customer exploitation ploy. Plans to tackle payment retentions in construction contracts. http://www.constructionmanagermagazine.com/news/support-retentions-bill-hits-500000-firms/ Several trade bodies and more than 500,000 smaller firms have backed the Construction (Retention Deposit Schemes) Bill, which is currently being debated in Parliament. The Bill plans to reform construction retentions, which is when the main contractor withholds a percentage of payment for construction work to ensure that the contractor properly completes the activities required of them. Retentions often lead to payments to contractors and sub-contractors being withheld for an unreasonable length of time and can impact cash flow and productivity. Under the plans, retentions would be placed in a Government-backed scheme and released once the work has been completed.
