According to the latest figures released

In March to May 2015, there were 4.47 million

Chris Bryce, Chief Executive of the Association

Lord Young: Its never been easier to start

What a load of bollox, even allowing for
the present regime's propensity for puerile
propaganda. I would have thought that Lord Young
is old enough to remember the days, 65 years
ago or so, when millions of post-war refugees
(like my parents), kicked off literally penniless
with scarcely a working grasp of the language,
to start their own businesses. (Not that Lord
Young himself has ever had any meaningful contact

no VAT or business registration, no hounding
by the taxman or other assorted, official spammers
and scammers. Believe me, it only went downhill
a significant number of those businesses not
only survived but became household names. Whereas
the more humble, modest majority contributed
to the country's wealth, created jobs and developed
a business environment which allowed many others
to follow in their footsteps. Until a rash of
recent governments with their entrepreneurial
visions provided by self-styled American 'gurus'
and the internet came along and made nothing
but start-up statistics the currency of their
day, wrapped up in enough propaganda about red
tape, new posts, initiatives and programmes
to have made Lenin blush with pride.

figure was described as 'worrisome' by ContractorCalculator,

last year did not have access to a superfast
